“ Fish was fresh and delicious, got the toro special and it was fantastic. Everything was amazing, will definitely be back next time I’m in the area! ”
“ Really awesome sushi bar experience! Everything was delicious, especially the fresh nigiri!!! We started with the Rock Shrimp, wonton tacos, and crispy rice. Rock Shrimp were the fav! Then we had several hand rolls including the Lobster and negitoro. Nigiri I HiGHLY recommend the Torched Sablefish and the Hamachi with Ponzu. The Watermelon Marg was amazing and my friends enjoyed the Handosake Old Fashion ”
“ Authentic Japanese Gem in Downtown Salt Lake Tucked away in the heart of downtown Salt Lake, this Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you sit down, the atmosphere sets the tone – calm, intimate, and thoughtfully Japanese. The sashimi is simply outstanding – incredibly fresh, beautifully sliced, and melts in your mouth. Each piece feels like a small celebration of flavor and craftsmanship. If you enjoy warm drinks, don’t miss their hot sake – smooth, aromatic, and just the right kind of chill after a long day. One of the highlights here is the Chef’s Choice Hand Roll. It’s a creative surprise in every bite – perfectly rolled, generously filled, and packed with flavor. You can feel the chef’s passion in every detail. The service is friendly and efficient, and the space is cozy without being crowded. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or a curious first-timer, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for a relaxed evening with great food and good vibes. ”
“ My partner and I visited HandoSake for a midday lunch to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is so beautifully designed, spacious, and incorporates lots of modern stone elements that makes the experience feel high end, and welcoming. The staff were warm and attentive, which made the experience feel really special. We enjoyed the bar seating and had friendly conversations with the chefs, and chatted about the menu and the various ingredients. We ordered appetizers and handroll combos. My favorite was the yellowtail handroll with jalepenos and ponzu, as well as the negitoro handroll. Don't skip on the dessert either; the matcha creme brule is something I'll dream of later. The food quality was excellent. The fish was fresh and generously portioned, and the appetizers and dessert were beautifully plated. Everything we tried was delicious, and we left feeling super satisfied. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. HandoSake is a great place for both casual dining and special occasions. ”
“ How lovely this place is! I and my partner found the place unexpectedly when we were looking for a restaurant for a dinner. They have a beautiful interior and amazing staffs. I’m unfortunately allergic to some of seafood that they adjusted my order that I was able to enjoy my dinner very well! I’m also very picky about seafood due to my allergy and usually not a big fan of spicy tuna fan because of texture of tuna that’s ground but they had big chunks of tuna that I actually enjoyed it a lot surprisingly. All the things I ordered were so great that I ended up eating too much lol. Rice was really well cooked and seaweed was very fresh and crisp. The chefs were so friendly and amazing for their sushi. I’m definitely coming back here when in town! ”
“ Such a fun and laid back atmosphere. Easy going. Sat at the bar & Sendi prepared our food right in front of us with SUCH great care. The manager was also friendly and social! Went on a night where the owner (Jim) introduced himself, friendly as well! CANNOT go wrong here. The fish tastes SO fresh ”
“ Holy cow!! Was this one of the best experiences we've had of fine dining and sushi bar service, everrr. The food was outta this world for a sushi lover and first time tryer of wagyu. Not only was the atmosphere complementry to the friendly and professional staff, but set the tune for the experience in general. Feeling cozy and lavish at the sametime, it invited one into the exploration of divinity within flavor. All rolled together with the love in the art of food and cared for by professionalism. We can't thank the staff, our waiter Corey, the amazing kitchen/chefs, each one more in love with making of the food than the next, enough for a stupendious place to spend our anniversary/Valentines but the experience of Top Tier Cuisine. Paired with a live DJ. 20 outta 10 would recommend to a friend, for one hell of a remarkable time. P.S. We also recommend you try the Hando Bomb, a different roll prepared each time. Always an amazing blend none the less. Hats off to the chefs for this glorious creation of delicatableness. Only wish we had pictures of our faces for the one bites. Ask the staff bout it, it was equist. ”
“ DON’T ORDER THE HANDROLLS, BUT.... the sashmi and nigiri are delicious! Went here on a whim because we were headed to a show at the Eccles and it was close, but we will definitely go back and I could see it becoming tradition! Was excited to try the food the second we walked in because of the beautiful, clean, modern and elegant space! The Interior design was stunning! Lots of black stone, cool tone lighting with a gigantic water feature almost the whole width of the restaurant, with the logo on the stone back. Not surprisingly the huge sushi bar was the largest seating area in the place and was a really cool feng shui element. This is definitely a great upscale date night place or nice business lunch place. The staff was super nice and helpful but also down to earth and not snobby. Every interaction was solid. The sushi chef was super friendly and welcoming! The salad dressing was so fresh it almost like I was eating a fresh orange with freshly grated ginger too! I have no idea how they made that dressing but it blew my mind for the freshness factor. The tempura rock shrimp was SO GOOD with tiny fine threads of crispy green onions sprinkled on top. I want to eat those onions with everything! We got the shitake mushroom, salmon and crab hand rolls and they were good! A little hard to eat honestly because of the seaweed wrapper but that's probably my fault because I don't know the proper Japanese way of eating them. The fillings all squeezed out! If you want an easier to eat option get the maki rolls. Really my only complaint here is that it’s called a hand roll sushi restaurant, but the hand rolls were my least favorite thing. I think the chopped up tuna and salmon for the hand rolls is pre-prepared which isn’t the best also. The sablefish onigiri and blue fin sashimi were mind blowing good! They were by far the best thing I ate! the chef was kind enough to recommend the freshest fish they had which is what I ordered and it was incredible! LIKE EATING BUTTER! This the freshest onigiri and sashimi I have had in Utah. Better than Takashi by a long shot! I try to only eat sushi in places near the ocean but this was SO fresh! I was super surprised at how fresh it was. This restaurant was meticulously clean, neat, orderly and so well run. So so impressed and can't wait to go back! ”
